Our Team
We pride ourselves on being a family-owned business, and the antithesis of a one-size-fits-all high street funeral directors. Together, we hold multi-generational experience in funeral services, floristry, horticulture and conservation.
Aaron, Kate and Jonathon Bewley are keen to welcome the participation of all generations from the wider community in enjoying and learning about the woods.

Aaron
Director
Before Aaron joined the family funeral business in 2001, he started his career by studying at Writtle College, Essex, in Landscape Construction. This included all aspects of horticulture, and soon after starting, he was drawn to specialise in semi-mature tree planting. During the second year of the course, Aaron was offered a work placement at Hasmead PLC, and started as a landscape construction labourer in Green Park, Reading. By the end of the year placement he was offered a full time and permanent role of foreman. He soon progressed on to manage the outdoor spaces of the multi-million rejuvenation project of the Cardiff Docks and Welsh Assembly, which included extensive tree planting and earth works, then also moved on to manage projects in London at St Paul’s Cathedral and the Thames Barrier. He ended his time with Hasmead managing the arrival of a ginormous multi-stem birch from Germany, which required a 200-ton crane to lift it into place!
Becoming the custodian of Leafy Lane Woods is a dream come true for Aaron, not only as it offers families and individuals a natural and beautiful alternative to traditional funerals, but it also returns him to his initial passion of the care and management of trees.

Jonathon
Director
Jonathon has been a funeral director for over thirty years as was his father before him. The concern and attention he gives to those who come to us for care personifies the best of a family business. Jonathon was delighted when the opportunity to purchase Leafy Lane Woods arose. The four years it took for the completion of purchase and granting of planning permission was retrospectively an important one for reflection and decisions. Jonathon is especially enthusiastic about the benefits of a native hedge to border the woods and wild flower meadow; the 700 saplings will knot together and be of huge benefit to our flora and fauna. Jonathon aspires to help make a protected environment and a positive difference to the environment which will last for the generations to come.

Kate
Director
Kate studied floristy at Lackham College and has over 30 years of experience of using the essential nature flowers as a means of delivering joy and expressing emotions. Recent years have seen her specialising in funeral tributes which combine the celebratory memorial of a loved one alongside expressions of love and empathy, a responsibility she has felt privileged to have undertaken. Kate is also a keen gardener and the award winning container displays which ornament our Corsham premises include many plants she has grown herself from seed. Leafy Lane Woods has a large glade in which Kate has plans to establish a beautiful wild flower meadow, using locally harvested seeds which will naturalize to deliver the environmental benefits that our declining insect population so dearly needs as well as creating a wonderful meditative space for our visitors.
